Worstead Events doesn’t put on shows itself, but tries to;

- Establish a unified approach to promoting events in Worstead

- Aid the establishment and promotion of viable events in Worstead.

- Encourage and support any group or individual wishing to promote an event in Worstead.

- Bring the assets and attractions of Worstead to the attention of promoters of events.

- Providing a platform for cooperation between the various venues and events in Worstead

GETTING STARTED

In its first year Worstead Events secured nearly £15,000 in grant aid from the Worstead Festival, Defra, Leader+ and The National Lottery.

We have spent the cash (not all of it…!) on advertising events in Worstead, supporting promoters that have made a loss, and buying a large stage for everyone to use.

It’s been a busy year—some events have succeeded, others not done so well but it has all started to put Worstead on the map as the place to go to for some excellent shows.

It has also raised some much needed extra funds for the Church, QE Hall and the New Inn.
— and hopefully its all been a lot of fun doing it!.

For 2005 we have cash available to help the events that did well last year to grow, and to encourage new ideas—so please bring us the new ideas!

10 rock bands, 5 folk groups, 4 jazz bands, 3 theatre groups, 2 church choirs and £1000 worth of fireworks have all appeared in Worstead in 2004. Performers have come from as far away as Russia and Australia and varied from hot local rock bands to international choirs, from The North Norfolk Youth Orchestra to the Vintage Hot Orchestra and from the Scratch Band to the Jay Singers.

SOME FACTS
In 2004, Worstead Events:

- Supported 10 new events
- Designed, produced and distributed 16,000 Worstead Events leaflets in 2 editions.
- Designed, produced and distributed around 500 posters for events.
- Helped sell 2000 tickets
- Covered losses of £ 750
- Help make profits of £ 3,500
- Purchased a 400 sq ft movable stage for village use.

…. An example
In past years the New Inn had put on an annual fireworks display, but they felt this was becoming difficult with new safety legislation and the event needed to be on a completely different scale to cover the increased costs. They asked Worstead Events, we approached several groups and the Parish Council agreed to take on the overall organisation.
Over 1200 people attended and a great night was had by all. But, most importantly, the event involved the Parish Council, QE Hall, Football Club, New Inn, Worstead Farms and many, individuals working together. It just goes to show what can be achieved if everyone is working together!

For Hire:
Worstead Events has some equipment which is available for hire to local groups:
6x3M Party Tents & 8'x4' Steeldeck Staging
