ALSO PRESENT
A Hurrell (press) 6 members of the public
Prior to the meeting members of the public from Meeting Hill asked questions about the effect that a
Conservation order would have on villagers. They were assured that it would mean on increase in red tape
on planning matters and was purely being undertaken in an effort to preserve what is an important piece of
history. It would have no affect on the plans they had to improve their own property in the future.
The question of a speed limit through the centre of Meeting Hill would be discussed with Mrs Cullingham who is putting together an overall plan for the area.
Representatives of Worstead Rams FC approached the Council about plans to improve their storage facilities.
They have had a grant from the Festival approved and have drawn up initial ideas. The Council is very supportive
of the project and wondered whether this scheme could be linked with the need for Public Toilets in the village
centre. It was suggested that the plans should be put to the Worstead Amenities Trust who could elect a steering committee for the project.

A letter had been received from the Charities Commission stating that
the constitution sent to them by the Meeting Hill Day Centre
Management Committee did state that two of the Trustees would
be proposed by the Parish Council. As no Councillors felt that they
would themselves like to be Trustees of this organisation they did not
feel it was appropriate that they should nominate others. The Chairman
agreed to write to the Charities Commission asking them to remove this KU
from the Constitution. Several members did state that if it were possible to
sit on the Management Committee without being a Trustee they would be
willing to undertake this.
There was very strong feeling amongst Councillors that the people of
Meeting Hill had been very badly let down by the planning officers in the
changes that had taken place recently to the Old School House. It was felt that
the windows in particular were an eyesore and not at all in keeping with
the historical nature of the Hamlet. It was felt that the blame for this
should rest fairly and squarely with the District Council.
Mr Clayton (Headmaster) has written to Highways regarding the possibility
of a new access and improved parking.
Mr Jordan had put in a quote for £20 for building the surround to the tree.
This was proposed by Mrs Gray and seconded by Mrs Wilkins.
Mr Swann had put in a quote for grass cutting from 1.4.01 –31.10.01.
This was for 5.5 hours per week at £6.50 per hour (£1108.25) to be
paid in 2 instalments. Proposed by Mrs Gray seconded by Mrs Wilkins.
All agreed.
A grant funding questionnaire had been received. Mr Uglow agreed to
complete this KU
The 2001 edition of the Handbook for Norfolk Parish & Town Councils
Is now available. Mrs Gray proposed that 1 be purchased at a cost of £3.
This was seconded by Mr Nash. All agreed.
Mr Uglow agreed to look at the model code of conduct for members. KU
Details of the Village of the Year competition are to be passed to
Mrs Rance for her comments. CR
