TUESDAY 26 November 2002 IN THE QUEEN ELIZABETH HALL, WORSTEAD

MATTERS ARISING.

 

Bench for G. O’Connor: a licence has been offered by NNDC for 1 year certain at £1.00 p.a. (if demanded). Hedge has to be removed, a new fence erected. R. Charman will carry out the work in February. Letter to be sent to Mrs O’Connor outlining this.

 

Village Playing Field:  quote received from Norfolk County Services: £775.71 for mowing playing field, maintenance Ruin Road, shingle area and to front and side village twice yearly. V. Fairhurst proposed to accept for 3 years, R. Charman seconded. Contract to be signed and returned by clerk.

 

­Resignation of councillor C. Rance: L. Gray knows 1 person very keen to become a councillor. Discussion took place whether to wait for the election or to go for co-option: votes were taken for co-option: 1 for, 5 against.

Mrs. Rance was school governor for the council, R. Charman is prepared to take over. L Gray proposed, this was seconded by V. Fairhurst.

Letter to go to school and thank you letter to C. Rance

 

Village sign: thank you letter for donation was received from Wayland Prison.

 

Christmas for Pensioners: it will be continued, suggestion: to find out how much pensioners rely on this gift, when handing them out.

K Uglow to hang up poster for “new” pensioners.

Lists to be distributed to councillors for update, to be returned a.s.a.p., for clerk to write cards and letter for Lloyds/TSB to get the money.

FINANCE MATTERS:
 
Budget statement was agreed.
 
- Invoice J. Parker: £60.00 mileage to Wayland Prison and bracket for village sign was accepted.

Invoice NNDC: £42.30 removing wasps nest at children’s playground was accepted.

 

Letter from D Chapman about Association for Disabled Nth Walsham & Smallburgh; they have given the Norfolk Association for Disabled £3,000.00 and are asking for more support from the council. It was decided that a letter should be sent stating that the council is happy to support local organisation, but that this money should stay local and not passed on.

 

North Walsham Swimming Pool Fund Association: ask donation to equip the pool with e.g. line ropes, starting blocks. No donation will be made.

 

Worstead Parochial: £150.00 was received for upkeep of burial grounds and request for new lights for Christmas tree outside the church (last ones were stolen last year). The council agreed to wait for quotes and decide at next meeting.

Mr J. Care asked if we were aware of an Enclosure Act showing the driveway always belonged to the council. Mrs R. Rix, member of the public, volunteered to visit Norwich Records Office to investigate this. Offer was gratefully accepted.

QUEEN ELIZABETH HALL

 

Tenancy agreement: Clerk was informed by Norfolk Rural Committee this was not necessary as the village hall is a charity, she tried to get this in writing but the lady in question was ill. Will try again before next meeting.
