EXTENSION OF EXISTING GRAVEYARD:
Father A. Long had been invited to talk about the pending extension of the graveyard. The Diocese has given the meadow to the Parochial Church Council for £1.00. The plans are to extend the existing graveyard, which is now full, to the end of the meadow. An area will be set aside for the interment of ashes. It will have to be registered with the Land Registry, estimated cost £500.00 and fenced in, financial assistance is probably needed, but wheels can now be set in motion. District Cllr. Wilkins advised Father Anthony to find out if Planning Permission is needed because of the change of use of the land. He will investigate this. It was suggested as well that the Community Payback team may be able to help with the erection of the fence (and the shelter) to reduce costs. Father Anthony commented that anybody living in the village, regardless of religion, may be interned into the village’s graveyard.
He was thanked for his clear explanation.
PLANNING AT HEINZ FACTORY: An employee from Heinz explained about the pending installation of a water softening plant, which will be beneficial to the environment. A resident from Station Road, who did not attend the meeting for this planning, was happy with the planned changes.
