REPORT OF THE PUBLIC PARTICIPATION AT  MEETING OF WORSTEAD PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON 21 OCTOBER 2008 IN THE QUEEN ELIZABETH HALL

PCSO WIBBERLEY:

PCSO Wibberley was not present but had left a report of telephone calls up to 30.09.08: 2 road accidents, 1 lost and 1 found dog, 1 report of drunk driver: a search was carried out but nobody was found, 3 calls for criminal damage to cars, which is still being investigated, 1 call reporting noise in the square and 1 call about door to door salesman, which is also being looked into.

 

One Speed Awareness was carried out by the Traffic Police: nobody had to be reported.

 

PCSO Wibberley carried out a speed check on Wednesday 15 October: 2 people were caught speeding and 5 were warned about it.

 

BRIGGATE MILL:

The request from the Briggate Residents Association to the Land Registry to rectify the registration of land at Briggate Mill was declined, but N. Lamb MP is still on the case and has asked for a meeting with the Land Registry.

He also met with the previous owner of Millbeck to get the details of the sale of Millbeck.

 

The wall at Mill Cottage has been rebuilt and the owners have said they do not want to jeopardise the application for the village green.

 

The application of Briggate Mill as a village green will be assessed soon.

 

Briggate Bridge: the repairs may be carried out around 15 November 2008.

DISTRICT/ COUNTY COUNCILLOR

District Cllr. Wilkins:

Unitary Status: this may now be shelved because of the credit crunch and the uncertainty about what is going to happen to the money that three local councils had deposited with Icelandic banks.

 

LDF: is now in operation.

 

Conservation Area proposal: will be  before the Planning Committee on Thursday 23 October and then send out for consultation. The importance of Worstead has been emphasised in the proposal. Chairman Henderson showed his interest in attending this meeting.

 

Mrs. Wilkins will send the powerpoint presentation by email to the interested parties who are unable to attend the meeting, once she has received it.

Public participation finished at 19.39 with two members leaving.
