PLAYGROUND:

It was suggested to do away with the designated playarea and scatter equipment around the playing field, certainly for slightly older children

Cllr. O’Hara thought parents would prefer the toddler playground to remain enclosed, so toddlers do not wander off and the danger of dogfouling will remain extremely remote. Cllr. Paterson is against removing the fencing as well.

The items in the toddler area will be dismantled (Unpaid Voluntary Service can help with this) and erected behind the Hall to allow grass to grow (to replace expensive bark).

Whether the toddler area will be re-instated can be decided later to see the response when it is used in the “open”, otherwise the area can be used for the much needed parking area for the Hall, the fence will be the barrier.

Cllr. O’Hara will get three quotes for new equipment like a boat /house for imaginative play, a mini roundabout, a sea-saw and maybe some new springy toys up to £2,000.00.

A display of other equipment, like a cradle swing with normal swings, for the older children will be made to find out what the older ones what like to see in the village, budget about £10,000.00.

Cllr. Cole will draw up some plans, so everybody can put forward comments and which can be sent to people who know about the installation of play equipment to give their opinion (Simon Rix, Nicola Richardson?)

CARETAKER:

This idea, suggested by the Worstead Festival Committee, was seen by the Parish Council as a good idea. This person would keep the village clean, carry out minor repairs, and inspect the play equipment on a weekly basis (for insurance purposes). Everybody to give it some serious thought!!
